Training Rainy Day Keepsake

As a dog trainer, I love working with dogs. Problems are always fun to solve and any day working with a dog is way better than going to an office. As a retriever trainer, there are dogs I love to work with and dogs I LOVE to work with. My own Rosie is a dog I LOVE to train. And so is this little lab, Rainy Day Keepsake, owned by Jim & Cindy Olson. Rainy has intense drive and a BIG desire to please. She is also very smart. Show her something once or twice, and she just gets it. Right away. This is the kind of dog that everyone who competes in hunt tests or field trials wants to have. A dog like this is very difficult to come by even when you know exactly what you are looking for. The dog could have the best pedigree in the world, but until you start your force fetch and yard work program at 6 or 7 months of age, you won't really know what kind of a dog you have. This dog is a very special girl and I always look forward to our training sessions. Rainy is blessed by having picked her owners very carefully. Jim and Cindy are very dedicated to a regular schedule of training. Every Friday we do yard work and drills. Cheating singles, "two along the shore," baseball, pattern blinds, etc. Then on Saturday or Sunday we go TRAINING! Big stuff on prairies and fields or large ponds. It is a huge pleasure to have owners who are dedicated and who are willing to show up no matter what the weather. This team will go just as far as they want to. And I am looking forward to seeing their success.

Fast Pup Dog Training at Oregon Hunt Test

Tacoma gun dog trainer Kate Johansson of Fast Pup Retriever Training with Rosie, Joanie, and August at the Oregon Hunting Retriever Club's Memorial Day hunt tests. Joanie (middle dog) earned her AKC Senior Hunter title, August passed two Junior hunt tests, and Rosie passed a Master level hunt test.

Dixie, a Standard Poodle, Earns Junior Hunter Title

Fast Pup Dog Training client Gail Wilson and her Standard Poodle, Dixie earned their AKC Junior Hunter title this past weekend at the Oregon Hunting Retriever Club's Memorial Day hunt test on Sauvie Island.

This was a very enjoyable weekend! The weather was absolutely perfect. The club ran a very efficient and organized couple of tests. Thanks to all the folks who worked so hard to pull it off!

Fast Pup Dog Training is conducting daily dog-training seminars at the Tacoma Home & Garden Show. The seminars are held each day at 1:00 pm in the exhibition hall. Topics include puppy training & management, dogs with jobs & maintaining drive and excitement while training.

Seattle Gun Dog Trainers Fast Pup Dog Training at Western WA Sportsmen's Show Puyal

Fast Pup Dogs, Rosie & Riley are greeted by visitors to the Hunting Retrieving booth at the Western Washington Sportsmen's show at Puyallup Fairgrounds in January. Fast Pup Dog Training specializes in extreme obedience around severe distractions along with hunting retriever training. We love to help people learn how to train their own dogs for hunting, hunt tests and field trials. We regularly meet for retriever training on Fridays and Saturdays. We teach individuals how to do force fetch, pile work, directionals and lining drills. Retriever training days include single, double and triple marks, along with blind work.

The Harms family regularly hunts in Eastern Washington. Brittany Spaniels, CJ & Buddy enjoy the wide open spaces.



When the Harms family contacted Fast Pup Dog Training, they had one Brittany Spaniel, Buddy. Buddy was an experienced hunter but needed some work on obedience and the "come" command. Now, everyone in the family, including young Lindsey, has off leash control of both Buddy & CJ.

Meredith Hartleben teaches Fast Pup dog training classes out of Yelm as a convenience to our clients in the south end. Meredith started out as a Fast Pup client herself when she needed to get her out of control Brittney Spaniel Drake trained. She wanted to surprise her husband, Brandon, with a well trained hunting dog. And guess what... Drake is now an AMAZING hunting dog! This past summer Meredith also rescued an Australian Kelpie who followed her into a Safeway in Yelm. After trying to find him a home for over a month she decided to keep him. He was pretty fearful and slightly aggressive when she first got him but after training him with the Fast Pup Dog Training method he is completely rehabilitated and is a very happy dog.
