Am Staff Pit Bull Gets Help From Fast Pup Tacoma

At Fast Pup Dog Training, Tacoma, we can train any dog! When Kate Johansson first met Ma'leiko, an American Staffordshire Terrier, the look of the dog took her breath away. Brindle in coloring, large (75 pounds) and massively muscled, the dog had a fierce look about him. It was easy to see how someone could be frightened by him. Johansson quicly realized that Ma'leiko was just a young pup with boundless energy and no manners. But with a baby girl who was afraid of him, the situation needed immediate improvement for the safety of both dog and toddler. Here is a testimonial from the dog's owners.

Angela Mendoza writes:

It has been an amazing experience working with Kate Johansson and the Fast Pup Dog Training program. Two months ago, my family and I were given a young dog named Ma'leiko (Hawaiian for "Warrior") who is an American Staffordshire Terrier Pit Bull mix. We were his fourth owners and he was only 10 months old.

He was out of control. My husband and I tried everything to train him--from giving him treats, to wearing him out. He was completely uncontrollable on a leash and he was constantly breaking out of his kennel. Our two year old daughter was terrified of him because he would always run and jump on her.

We received an email from a breeder who knew Kate and Fast Pup Dog Training and she recommended calling her for help. It was literally our last resort. We were at the end of our rope and were thinking of taking this dog to the shelter in hopes that he would be placed with a family that would be able to handle him better. Unfortunately, we also knew that he would probably be euthanized if we took him to a shelter.

After speaking with Kate, we had some hope, and held off getting rid of him for a few days. That Wednesday, we went to a training session with her and held our breath in anticipation. We needed to see a miracle. After watching her demonstration and getting a few minutes of one to one time with our dog, Ma'leiko made a change right on the spot. That very day we signed up with Kate and have never looked back.

Ma'leiko had a lot working against him. His brindle coloring, his size and lack of manners were overwhelming to us. Since working with Kate, Ma'leiko is walking very nicely both on leash and off, our daughter is no longer afraid of him (she feeds him by hand and snuggles with him,) and he has excellent obedience. He has made a complete turn around. Now he has become a true family member and will remain right here with us as part of our family.

Thank you Kate. You taught our family that with the right training and an outstanding trainer to guide us, we could make this dog a wonderful member of our family.
